Korean actor Lee Min Ho has officially started his military service today. At about 8:45 am Korean time, Lee Min Ho went to the Gangnam District Office to report for his first day of work as a social worker.

However, after 20 minutes, he left the building, prompting Korean media to report that he left early contrary to the rule that social workers must be in the office from 9 am to 6 pm.

The actor's agency, MYM Entertainment, said it was a misunderstanding and clarified that he did not skip work but rather he was assigned to a different organization after reporting to the Gangnam office.

"He went to the Gangnam District Office headquarters and then followed the instructions of the Military Manpower Administration," his agency said.

Hundreds of fans were waiting outside the building when he arrived. He was secured by two bodyguards and two police officers as he greeted fans and entered the building.

While he went to report for his first day of military service, his girlfriend, miss A's Suzy, attended a signing ceremony on the same day for a clothing brand she is endorsing.

Suzy is also concentrating on the filming of her upcoming Korean drama "While You Were Sleeping" that will air in the second half of the year.

Before his enlistment, he did a commercial shoot for Korean cosmetics Innisfree in Jeju Island. He also filmed the documentary "DMZ The Wild" which was done inside the Demilitarized Zone between South and North Korea.

Lee Min Ho was granted the alternative service instead of being assigned as an active duty soldier because of injuries he suffered from a car accident in 2006. He was hospitalized for broken thigh and ankle bones.

While shooting the drama "City Hunter" in 2011, he met another car accident. The MMA designated him to serve as a social worker because of his health status.

Lee Min Ho will fulfill his military service for two years.

Last year, Lee Min Ho starred in the drama "The Legend of the Blue Sea" starring alongside actress Jun Ji-hyun. His film "Bounty Hunters" was also released in 2016.
