It's official now! Weightlifting Fairy's Nam Joo Hyuk will play the lead role in tvN's upcoming fantasy drama Bride of the Water God. The actor will enact The Water God Ha Baek, a temperamental deity who takes the most delightful woman as his bride in exchange of rain.
tvN has already confirmed that Shin Se Kyung, Gong Myung, and f(x)'s Krystal will play vital roles alongside Nam. The drama will air in the second half of 2017.
The script reading session is likely to be held tomorrow while the shooting will begin from March 22. Based on a Korean manhwa, Bride of the Water God narrates the tale of Soah, a girl who is offered up as a sacrifice to the water god in exchange of rains from prolonged drought. The channel has also revealed that the series will have a modern twist added to the traditional narrative. According to reports, Shin Se Kyung will play Soah, Gong Myung as Biryeom, the wind god, while Krystal will play Hera.
