A Singapore teenage boy jumped to his death while performing a dangerous subway stunt for a Snapchat video, last Friday. The 17-year-old Jonathan Chow leaped over the railing at a local mall in an attempt to land safely on a ledge right below him.
The ledge crumbled under Chow's weight as he reportedly fell four floors below, through the plasterboard material to his death. The incident was first reported by a local news portal 'Today', after Chow's friend Ruth explained the tragedy that unfolded before her.
She said the idea for the stunt took birth while shopping for clothes at the Singapore mall.
"Help me take a Snapchat video and I'll jump," Chow had told her.
"We both thought the ledge was made of concrete, but when he jumped, he fell straight through," Ruth said.
"I knew it was dangerous, but before I could stop him, he already jumped over. I swear I wanted to jump over too but I knew it was too late," she added.
The entire incident has been showcased in a surveillance video wherein you can see the two indulging in a conversation near the railing, before Chow leaps to his death while Ruth watched in horror.
