Snapchat has yet again started locking accounts of individuals who are using jailbreak apps and tweaks for modding Snapchat with tools such as Snapchat++ or Phantom. With due credit to the jailbreak community, it is now possible to unlock blocked Snapchat accounts on a jailbroken device, using a simple tweak.
Furthermore, the latest version of Phantom enables users to evade detection while bypassing account restrictions with the app. Here is what the alert message says to all users with locked accounts when using Snapchat:
"Oh no! Your account has been temporarily locked. For details on why this might've happened visit https://www.snapchat.com/locked"
Affected Snapchat users can perform the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue and unlock their account:
Non-jailbreak users
Non-jailbreak users can simply uninstall the Snapchat++ or Phantom tweak from their device and then install the official version of Snapchat from the App Store. They should be able to log into Snapchat after 24-48 hours have passed since the ban.
Jailbreak users
On the contrary, jailbreak users can also try the above uninstallation procedure, before attempting one of the following methods to resolve the problem.
Method 1:
Step 1: You can simply kill the Snapchat process if it is still running in the background by double-tapping the device's Home button and then swiping up on the Snapchat app to close it.
Step 2: With Snapchat being taken off from the process list, you can now download the 'No Snap Lock' .deb file, using Safari on the affected iOS device.
Step 3: After downloading the .deb file, you can install it onto your jailbroken device via iFile, which is free to download via Cydia.
Step 4: Wait until the tweak installs, relaunch Snapchat app and try logging in. You should now be able to login without any hassles as the account lock is removed.
Method 2:
Step 1: Download and install the latest version of Snapchat via App Store.
Step 2: Uninstall Phantom and other Snapchat related jailbreak tweaks from your iPhone or iPad via Cydia.
Step 3: Navigate to the Snapchat's unlock page using the URL: https://snapchat.com/unlock and you can get the restrictions removed from your account.
Step 4: Log in normally into Snapchat account on your device.
Step 5: Now install AppSync from Karen's Pineapple Repository: https://cydia.angelxwind.net/.
Step 6: Install any file management tool such as iFunbox onto your computer.
Step 7: Download an older version of Snapchat via iTunes on your computer and install it on your iPhone or iPad using iFunbox. This can be done by tapping the large green Install button on top. Note: The older versions of Snapchat do not contain the detection mechanism for latest jailbreak tweaks.
Step 8: Wait until the older version of Snapchat installs, but do not launch it yet.
Step 9: Now install Phantom or any other Snapchat jailbreak tweak via Cydia.
Step 10: Finally launch Snapchat and it should work as intended.
