Fans of the popular time-travel series Outlander will not have to wait too long for the sequel of the drama as the premiere date of season 3 is already out. Reportedly, the production team of the series is speeding things up and is heading to South Africa for filming the upcoming series.

The gap between the first two seasons of the series was 14 months, however, for the third season the production is moving fast and is scheduled to wrap up by June, Variety reported.

According to Deadline, this March the filming of the series will take place from Scotland to Cape Town, South Africa.

Reportedly, the show will be using the sets used for Starz series, "Black Sails" to "shoot pivotal sea voyage scenes" that is to be featured in "Outlander" Season 3's last five episodes.

Starz president of programming Carmi Zlotnik said: "While 'Droughtlander' will last just a little longer, we feel it is important to allow the production the time and number of episodes needed to tell the story of the Voyager book in its entirety."

The storyline of the third instalment of the series revolves around Caitriona Balfe's character, Claire, who travels through the stones to return in 1948 to her life.

According to AsiaStarz, "She's carrying Jamie's child in her womb, and upon her return faces the consequences of her mysterious disappearance and its effect on her marriage to her husband Frank, played by Tobias Menzies. Back in the 18th century, Heughan's Jamie deals with the aftermath of the historic Battle of Culloden and struggles with Claire's absence. In the years that pass things begin to change and each cope with the longing for one another's love. Claire and Jamie will soon reunite after two decades, but their years apart might have put a gap in their relationship."

Lead stars of the series, Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are all set to film the sequel in Africa. According to the reports, "Outlander" Season 3 will premiere in September 2017 on Starz.
