Chris Martin has opened up about his split with Academy Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow. The Coldplay frontman and Iron Man, who were married for over ten years, have maintained a close relationship for their two children, Apple and Moses.
During an interview with The Sunday Times, Martin revealed how the two handled their crumbling marriage. He said: "It's always out there in the media, but I have a very wonderful separation-divorce. It's a divorce, but it's a weird one."
"You can come at it very aggressively and blame and blame. Or you can put yourself in the garage, so to speak. Take yourself apart and clean off the bits. Reassemble," he added.
Martin admitted that he relied on literature to overcome the pain during separation. He said: "That one Rumi poem changes everything. It says that even when you're unhappy, it's good for you. I was like 'What?!' It took me about a year to get it. A year of depression and all that."
"I still wake up down a lot of days. But now I feel like I've been given the tools to turn it around," he continued.
