Jaejoong has opened up about his weight gain while serving in the military. The 30-year-old member of the Korean pop group JYJ recently returned from his mandatory military service.

During a session on V app, Jaejoong revealed how he tried to manage his weight. He had enlisted back on March 31, 2015.

Jaejoong said: "When I was in the army I gained 19kg (41 pounds), but now I've lost 14kg (30 pounds). I didn't want to look too old so I had a diet of eating high sodium and low protein foods. It's a bit silly, isn't it? So I lost weight and now I weigh around 65kg to 66kg (143 to 145 pounds). I lost a lot of weight, didn't I?"

Adding on, Jaejoong admitted he did not get any special preference though he is a celebrity. He said: "It's awkward because I was in the military until recently."

He added: "A lot of people ask me if I had it easy in the military after seeing how I look, but I really worked hard. Because I was older than most in there, I felt I had to do better, so I worked really hard. I was the only special grade fighter in my team. I can say that proudly."
