A statement was released by SBS through Running Man's official Instagram as to why the popular variety show received only one award. The question, which is on the mind of each and every fan after last night's "2016 SBS Entertainment Awards", is answered by SBS. It was only Lee Kwang Soo who won an award for "Running Man."
In the 2016 SBS Entertainment Awards, Lee Kwang Soo was awarded with the Top Excellence Award last night. After he received the award, he gave a moving speech and thanked all the cast members and also the producers of the variety show.
In fact, the speech was so touching that Song Ji Hyo who is also a member of the show was driven to tears. This showed how much attached they are with all the members of the show the obvious love and care for each other was quite visible.
Fans were expecting Running Man to bag quite a number of awards and it was quite eligible for it. As everyone knows the fact that the show has been symbolising SBS weekend variety shows for almost 7 years and it is to end soon during February, 2017.
The direct translation of the Korean statement which SBS released on the Instagram post is. "Lee Kwang Soo has received the first prize in the variety program department at the 2016 SBS Entertainment Awards. Running Man members had stated that they would like to make their appearance on the award show a quiet one and did not wish to receive any awards. For this reason, Running Man was only given 1 award," Koreaboo reported.
In the 2016 SBS Entertainment Awards, the new variety show "Ugly Duckling" recieved two Best Program Awards and "The Its Know" got the popular documentary program. The Grand Award was given to Shin Dong Yup for his role on the show Ugly Duckling.
