Gigi Hadid reportedly encouraged Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik to collaborate and work on a duet. The Bad Blood hitmaker and the former One Direction star surprised fans after they dropped the song, I Don't Wanna Live Forever, for the soundtrack to Fifty Shades Darker.
A source told Hollywood Life: "It was Gigi who originally suggested they work on a song together. This was back in September, when Taylor was spending time with Gigi and Zayn after her breakup with Tom. Gigi brought up the idea when the three of them went out to dinner in NYC."
"When the opportunity came for Taylor to team up with someone on 'I Don't Wanna Live Forever,' she immediately thought of Zayn. It's a sexy song, the perfect song for them to collaborate on," the insider added.
This comes after In August 2015, Swift's then-boyfriend, Scottish singer/DJ Calvin Harris had a Twitter war with Malik. The social media feud began after the British singer retweeted a post, one quote from Miley Cyrus and another one by the Red singer, on their opinions on music streaming services.
Swift defended her decision to take her music off Spotify, while Liam Hemsworth's girlfriend said: "I've made my money. If no one buys my album, cool. It's fine. I've got a house, and I've got dogs that I love. I don't need anything else."
The post was accompanied with a caption: "The difference is astounding."
Harris was quick to defend Swift. He tweeted: "@FemaleTexts @zaynmalik You've made your money? Cool...fuck the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah f**k em"
"If u don't get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry..." he added.
