J Jayalalithaa, the Chief Minister of South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, has become a victim of death hoax. The 68-year-old Indian politician is undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, after she suffered a heart attack.
Soon after the news of cardiac arrest broke out, social media flooded with false reports about Jayalalithaa's death.

She is on extracorporeal membrane heart assist device and is being treated by a team of expert doctors and critical care specialists. Dr Richard Beale from London has also been consulted and he has concurred with the line of treatment by our cardiologists & pulmonologists."
