The fans of the American reality television singing competition, The Voice, seem to be quite upset after Monday's episode. The episode had the live real-time voting introduced and crammed performances of 20 singers into two hours following which the judges eliminated eight contestants.
According to most fans, the entire real-time voting system was confusing and on top of that, it was not made clear at the beginning of the show. It took some time for the fans to understand that they can only vote in Eastern and Central time zones and for the members whose team was performing at that very time.
Even the judges of the show seemed confused. "This is happening too fast. I can't wrap my head around this thing. ... This literally sucks so much," said coach Blake Shelton during the show.
According to reports, the TV show was forced to introduce the new voting system due to the US Presidential election that started on 8 November. In the live playoffs, which are only for one night in the 11th season, the results were announced in real-time.
The voting rules were also tweaked a little bit to make them fit in the format. The results were announced live via the ET/CT time zone. The coaches were also given a special power. They could immediately save a contestant who is voted out to complete their roster. At the end of the show, eight contestants were eliminated out of 20 people and the remaining 12 moved forward to the final live show phase of the competition.
Many promising artists were sent home and it was a hard time for the fans to come to terms with the elimination of their favourite contestant.
While team Blake ended losing Jason Warrior and Dana Harper, team Alicia had to say goodbye to Kylie Rothfield and Josh Halverson, which upset many fans.
For team Miley, the songstress saved Darby and bid farewell to Sophia Urista and Belle Jewel.
The last team, team Adam, had a hard time with selecting contestants for the roster. At the end of the show, Simone Gundy and Riley Elmore were voted out from the team.
The next phase of the competition, the live show phase, is scheduled to start from 14 November.

The hell is this live voting crap? Shouldn't people wait until they've heard everyone sing before voting? :l #VoicePlayoffs #TheVoice

How does voting work when the show is live on the east coast? Why didn't the show skip a week instead?!?! #VoicePlayoffs #TheVoice
