After we wrote about the comeback of 'Cruel Intentions' last week, it's time to move a step forward. The NBC team is gradually shaping up the series and finalising the cast of the sequel.
While Sarah Michelle Gellar is all excited to reprise her role as venomous 'Kathryn Merteuil', we got to know that Reese Witherspoon will not be there to take forward her character.
A report on Hollywood Reporter said that Reese has already some prior commitments, due to which she won't be able to take up the show.
"She has a production deal with ABC Studios and next stars in HBO limited series Big Little Lies, and is also executive producing a drama pilot for ABC this season," the repot said.
Now the question is, who will be the next Annette Hargrove?
The NBC production team has roped in Kate Levering to reprise the role of Witherspoon. Previously, Kate was seen in the star cast of lifetime comedy-drama series Drop Dead Diva, which successfully went on from 2009-2012.
The other cast of the revival sequel includes Samantha Logan, Sophina Brown and newbie Taylor John Smith.
The sequel of the1999 American drama film 'Cruel Intentions', picks up 15 years from where it was left in the movie. Everybody is grown up now, and Annette Hargrove, who was pregnant at the end of the film plot, has got a teenager son, Bash. The story is likely to revolve around Bash, and how he discovers that his biological father was the billionaire hotel magnate.
