At a US court hearing on Wednesday, the attorneys of Madonna and Guy Ritchie agreed to let the pop icon's son Rocco to remain in London for the time being.
The proceedings at a New York court were the latest in a series of legal battle s between Madonna and Ritchie over the custody of Rocco, who is currently staying with Ritchie in the UK.
15 year-old Rocco is enrolled in a UK school chosen by both Madonna and Ritchie.
Madonna, 57, and Ritchie, 47, called into to listen on speaker phone as the court proceedings got underway.
Though the court ordered the 15-year-old to return to his mother in December, Rocco seems to be more comfortable in living with his father at their London house.
The Manhattan supreme court Justice Deborah Kaplan had said: "I'm directing the child to be returned to New York. If he wants to stay with his father, he must return to his mother." The judge had then set another date for the hearing to continue.
The conflict between Ritchie and Madona, who split in 2008, arose when Rocco left Madona amidst the ongoing Rebel Tour, and relocated to live with his father. If reports are to be believed, Rocco was tired of the strict parenting style of Madona and innumerable fights between them made him run during the Stockholm leg of Rebel Heart tour.
Rocco had joined her mother for the tour last year, and he was working backstage. He had also travelled with Madona in her concert tour back in 2012.
To win back her son, the 57-year-old singer has taken to social media to show her devotion. Madona's Instagram account is full of Rocco's childhood pictures and affectionate messages for him.
Meanwhile, for the court hearing today, the lawyers of both the sides will square off without Madona and Guy being present there.
Currently, Madona is on her Asia leg of Rebel tour. She performed at Singapore's National stadium last week.
