South Korean actor/singer Song Kyungil has opened up about his plans on military enlistment. The leader of the boy band History revealed he will be joining military service soon.
Kyungil's agency FAVE Entertainment said in a statement: "Song Kyungil recently received notice of his admission into the the police promotional unit. The enlistment date has not yet been revealed, and we are waiting for it."
The source added: "Song Kyungil will be fulfilling his military duty as a conscripted policeman. He will enlist according to the date [of his enlistment]."
South Korean male citizens need to complete military services between the ages of 18 to 35 years old. Kyungil's service period will reportedly likely last 21 months.
Many celebrities are enlisting for the military duty this year. 2PM's Taecyeon had previously revealed that Hey Ghost, Let's Fight might be his last drama.
The singer who portrayed the character of an exorcist, stated that the mystery comic drama will be his last project before joining the military services in 2017. He told Allkpop: "I think of ['Hey Ghost, Let's Fight'] as my last project before I enlist in the army next year, and I am working very diligently on filming. Please look forward [to the drama]."
