Historical drama, Scarlet Heart: Goryeo aired its first episode on 29th August. Although the SBS drama did not attract much viewership on its special airing, however, the 2nd episode managed to garner 10.4 % rating in Seoul National capital area.

The period drama, Scarlet Heart: Goryeo boasts of its starry cast and guest appearances. The drama mostly features rookie actors like Lee Jun Ki, IU, Kang Ha Neul, Hong Jong Hyun, Nam Joo Hyuk, Baekhyun EXO, and Ji Soo. The first episode was reportedly quite impressive, and the young actors performed quite well.

Veteran actress Park Ji young, who portrays Wang So's mother, Empress Yoon, is highly impressed from all the beginners. While the actress praised all, she seemingly looked more inclined towards IU and EXO's Baekhyun. During her interview with My Daily, the 47 years relayed: " Baekhyun, IU, and the others are really great at acting. There were moments during the filming when they made me laugh out loud. None of them seemed like rookies at all. My juniors also had good attitudes on set. They could have been in their cars while waiting to for their own scenes to start filming, but they didn't, so it felt like all of us got along."

She further adds, "Back in my day, you would slowly get better as you walk down the path of an actor and improve your skills, but nowadays, it seems like many of the young actors and actresses are good right from the start".

The actress seemed overwhelmed by IU's performance and did not miss a chance to compare her with the top Hollywood singer. She said: "I've told her that she was like Taylor Swift, except, Taylor Swift can't act while IU has both the singing and acting down. I've also never seen her express any exhaustion while being on set. She works harder than any other actress out there."
