The Rajinikanth-starrer "Kabali" is all set for its grand worldwide release across Singapore, Malaysia, India, Australia, New Zealand, US, UK and U.A.E on July 22.
As excitement over the movie builds, a leading theatre in Singapore is reportedly charging $39.90 for Kabali first day first show ticket. This is the highest priced ticket ever for any film screened in Singapore.
However, the theatre authorities have clarified that the price is not for the tickets but for the Kabali statue that they will be selling at the theatre along with the show.
"The price of $39.90 is only for 'KABALI' statue and it's not a movie price, movie ticket price will be announced only after the release date is confirmed," the theatre wrote on their FB page.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's AirAsia has also joined the Rajini bandwagon and dedicated a plane to Rajinikanth. An A 320 aircraft, painted with a picture of the actor in his Kabali finery, is already flying across ten destinations covering cities like Bangalore, Goa and New Delhi.
"This is AirAsia's way of paying a tribute to the "Thalaivar" and his fans across the globe," AirAsia India's CEO Amar Abrol told Forbes.
On July 22, the airlines company will offer a special chartered flight to ferry Rajini fans from Bangalore to Chennai and back. This initiative has been taken so that the fans can watch the movie's first show on the first day in Rajini's home base, Chennai. The aircraft will carry some Kabali and Rajini props during the flight to satisfy the selfie-crazy customers.
Apart from these, AirAsia has introduced a special Kabali Vegetarian biryani (flavored Indian rice), especially for its Malaysian flights.
Kabali fever is not restricted to any city or country. Kabali Sources reported that more than1 lakh tickets have been sold in U.A.E for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday which is a record for any Indian movie.
Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and directed by Pa Ranjith, the gangster movie has been shot in Malaysia. Rajinikanth and Radhika Apte are in the lead, and has other actors such as Dinesh Ravi, Riythvika and many more.
The film will be released in not less than 4,500 screens across the globe in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Considering the screen-count, reports say "Kabali" is going to be the biggest Indian release in the international markets.
