American singer/songwriter Lady Gaga and her fiance Taylor Kinney have parted ways. The 30-year-old singer and the 35-year-old actor broke up after dating for five years.
The Bad Romance singer and Kinney started dating after they met on the set of her 2011 music video You and I. The Chicago Fire actor had popped the question to the singer, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, on Valentine's Day 2015.
Lady Gaga confirmed the split on her Instagram account. She wrote: "Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."
During an interview with Fashion magazine in 2013, Lady Gaga had gushed about Kinney. She said: "It has been hard for me to find it but I have found love. When you meet someone that's not intimidated by the amazing people that are around you [or] by the love that you receive—that's love. Men weren't always happy for me. It was very challenging to watch a woman be so successful."
