So far many biopics have been released in theatres depicting eminent personalities like M.S Dhoni to Neerja Bhanot among others. Now, it is the turn of the iconic and cultural star MG Ramachandran, popularly known as MGR, whose biopic will hit the screens soon. 

The shooting of the feature film "MGR" which started on November 10, was flagged by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanaiswami and is slated to release in April 2018. The biopic of the former chief minister and actor is directed by A. Balakrishnan who also directed 'Kamaraj', a biopic based on the life of Indian Congress party politician K. Kamaraj, who was known as kingmaker in the late 1960s.  

The director said that the biopic revolved around the journey of the eminent star right from his childhood days.The journey of the film will start from the time he joined Madurai Boys Company to events like his initial stages as a member of the DMK and quitting the DMK to form his own AIADMK. The film will also feature the controversial issues surrounding MGR and co-actor MG Radha.

The film produced by Rama communications will feature actors like Satishkumar and SS Stanley enacting the roles of MGR and C. Anna Durai respectively. According to the reports in Hindu newspaper, the audition for playing J Jayalalitha and MGR wife Janaki Ammal is still in process.

MGR was one of the most influential actors of the Tamil film industry and dominated it for three decades. Later, he entered into politics, emerged as the first film actor-turned-politician to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The teaser of the movie written by Chembur Jayaraj will be released on MGR 's birth anniversary, January 17, 2018, after completing the shoot in a couple of months.
