One of the most important plot elements of Gareth Edwards' 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' was Kyber crystals. They were being mined by the Galactic Empire to be used as fuel for the planet killing laser beams of the Death Star. But the Kyber crystals also power a Jedi's lightsaber. As per a recent leak, the Kyber crystals will also play a major part in 'The Last Jedi.'

As noted by Express UK, Star Wars theorist Mike Zeroh claims to have learned from a source at Pinewood Studios that Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill, has a fragment of Darth Vader's Kyber crystal, which used to power his red lightsaber. And this will apparently be a very significant part of the Episode VIII's plot.

Mike Zeroh says in his Youtube channel video, "The crystal glows on Luke's neck when in the dark or dim lighting." In a previous video, notes Express UK, Zeroh had said, "We have new information about Luke Skywalker's kyber crystal which is attached to his necklace, that resembles a dog whistle from a distance." He added that as per a leak on MakingStarWars.net, Luke usually keeps the crystal in his backpack but does wear a necklace later with the crystal tied to it. The Krystal glows red.

'In Rogue One,' Donnie Yen's character Chirrut Imwe was saying, "The strongest stars have hearts of kyber." It can be naturally assumed he was talking about Jedha, where the Imperial forces would mine such crystals to power the Death Star, which then destroyed Jedah. However, Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso herself was seen wearing a Kyber pendant given to her by her mother Lyra, who died protecting her.

Zeroh had theorised that Supreme leader Snoke may not want Luke Skywalker to return because he supposedly possesses this Darth Vader artefact that might be very powerful even though it's only a fragment.

In the new video Zeroh described the necklace as being "beady and coloured black, with two large extensions in the back that combine together," adding "The crystal is able to exit out of the object, that appears like a wooden dog whistle and has a fawn colour to it."

Zeroh said, "The crystal will be important to the plot in a surprising way and it's not used just for cosmetics," and added, "We do know that a lot of stuff fell on [the forest moon of] Endor [during the battle in Return of the Jedi] and I believe that pieces of Darth Vader's Kyber crystal could have fallen down to the surface."

Rian Johnson directed 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' will release on December 14 in Singapore.
