Leica has finally rolled out its latest camera, the TL2. At a Leica price, the camera is a good deal for serious photography enthusiasts.
Leica TL2 is a mirrorless camera that is packed with a 24-megapixel CMOS APS-C sensor. It may have a crop sensor, the company is adding the new Maestro II series image processor into the bargain for photographers to enjoy high-quality shooting results. True to its brand, Leica has proven again that premium photographs do not have to mean bulky machines to tug along.
Leica sticks to its thrust to offer products that are elaborately designed and crafted with components of finest quality. The compactness of the TL2 is pretty much like any point-and-shoot cameras that are made out of premium aluminium material, but it is capable of carrying lenses with focal lengths that range between 17 millimetres and 200 millimetres.
TL2 is capable of recording videos in 4k resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) up to 30 frames per second. It can also record with ultra full HD quality in 60 frames per second and full HD in 120 frames per second. Leica made sure to make TL2's autofocus as fast and as precise as possible; not to mention, it only takes 165 milliseconds for the auto focus to do its job which the company claims three times faster than its predecessor. The ISO of TL2 ranges from 50 to 50,000, which is an upgrade to TL1's maximum ISO of 12,500. For a mirrorless camera, 50,000 is not really bad at all. The shutter speed can hold as slow as 1 second.
TL2 has a 3.7-inch touchscreen live view display, Wi-Fi capability, USD 3.0 and HMDI ports. TL2 is available in two colour variants: black and silver. Grab TL2 for US$1,950, body only.
