Mariah Carey had to face a mortifying situation after her credit cards were reportedly declined during a shopping trip in Beverly Hills. The 47-year-old singer, who is said to be worth more than $500 million, had to pay in cash as her credit cards were rejected.
A source told Radar Online: "She was shopping on Rodeo Drive and her credit cards were declined. When it happened at Louis Vuitton she thought it was a fluke. But when it happened three more times she was embarrassed and humiliated."
"She returned with an assistant and her manager Stella [Bulochnikov], who made a total scene. They ended up paying cash," the insider said.
The celebrity gossip website claimed that Carey, who called off her engagement to Australian-born billionaire business tycoon James Packer earlier this year, is going through a hard time financially, after calling off a South American tour due to late payments. She lost other business opportunities because she had committed herself to the performances.
"Mariah is blaming her manager for the cancelations, postponement and low ticket sales of her tour with Lionel Richie. She's also had bad press and business deals. Stella keeps saying everything is going to be all right, but it's not," the source added.
