Nintendo Switch is confirmed to get a FIFA title. However, the football title that had been announced by Electronic Arts is not FIFA 18.

EA Sports FIFA is the new title confirmed to be released on Nintendo Switch in the fall. In its website, Electronic Arts released on Friday its lineup for EA Play 2017 enlisting 11 feature titles, including the EA Sports FIFA on the Nintendo Switch and FIFA 2018.

This caused confusion since there had been earlier announcements made by a company executive that FIFA 18 will be hitting the Nintendo console. Former EA chief competition offer Peter Moore previously revealed in February that fans will see FIFA 18 on Switch soon with modifications to fit the console. It turned out, based on the new list of EA titles, EA Sports FIFA is the same game such that FIFA 18, only with different. The new title has been designed for Switch.

A Eurogamer report speculates that EA Sports FIFA is built on EA's Ignite engine, a less complex version of Frostbite used to craft games for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Aside from FIFA 18 and EA Sports FIFA on the Nintendo Switch, EA Play 2017 also includes Star Wars Battlefront II, Madden NFL 18, NBA Live 18, Need for Speed, The Sims Mobile and The Sims 4, Battlefield 1 expansion, a new content from Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes and Titanfall 2, Madden NFL Mobile, and NBA Live Mobile. The EA Play 2017 conference commences June 10.

In another news, Nintendo is off to a good sales streak for the rest of the year with Switch. The console has been a huge help for Nintendo to pull itself back into higher stocks. The console boasts several titles that have been received well by the critics: These include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, Splatoon 2, NBA 2K18, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Monster Hunter XX, Super Mario Odyssey, and 1-2-Switch, among many others.
