In a spate of ransomware attacks targeting computer running on Windows, it comes as no surprise that Windows users will soon be switching an operating system. In fact, a new survey has shown that a great amount of Windows users will be jumping to macOS in the next few months.
Windows vs. macOS
A considerably huge number of Windows patrons are seen moving to macOS within six months, a report reveals. Verto Analytics, a Finnish media measurement service provider, has revealed that a 21 percent of laptop owners and 25 percent of desktop owners on Windows are keen to move to Apple's operating system.
Meanwhile, Verto claims that 98 percent of Mac PC users are happy with their devices, while 2 percent only are willing to make a move to Windows. This survey was conducted in the first two quarters of 2017 wherein recent malware attacks took place.
Most of those who are willing to move from Windows to Mac belong in the highest earning bracket. While other Windows users who expressed they want to move to Mac are in their late teens or early 20s, the survey suggests that they might do it with the help of their parents.
Problematic
The survey may corroborate to the status quo, Extreme Tech finds it problematic because Verto has not provided any concrete data on how the poll results are reached, while they have not been supported by historical trends or recent sales data.
Verto's survey respondents may consist of American users who are more leaning towards Apple products. According to a data of IDC, a global market intelligence firm, Apple's market share is growing more modestly in 2015 than in 2014, but this share is only under 10 percent of the total market. Original equipment manufacturers like Lenovo, Dell, Asus, and HP dominated the industry.
It is important to take note that consideration might be the right term to use instead of switching.
