Nintendo has officially confirmed the release of Super Mario Run for iOS with its expected release date set for 15 December. Apple had earlier hinted about the impending release of Super Mario for its mobile platform in an iPhone 7 event, a couple of months ago.
The new Super Mario will be one-handed platformer game, specifically designed for mobile phones and tablets. Mario fans can download this game for free on 15 December via App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices.
Super Mario Run will be available as an optional $9.99 upgrade via in-App purchase for those who want unlimited and unrestricted gameplay across all three game modes, after trying out the limited/trial access for free.
"The wait is almost over for a Super Mario game that can be played on mobile devices," said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America's Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing in a recent press release.
With a simple character control mechanism, the Super Mario Run takes the action-platformer game to a whole new level wherein the players can let the game character run forward on its own or perform multiple jumps over obstacles and enemies with a single tap of the finger.
The game now supports stylish combo moves while you collect coins and race your way to the finish. Interested users may download the official Mario Run sticker pack for iMessage app or register for the game release notification on the App Store.
Super Mario Run is compatible with iOS 8 and higher, and will be available in 151 countries at the time of launch as listed on Nintendo's website. The game will debut in 10 localised languages including Dutch, English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and traditional Chinese versions.
