dendrobium

The world is ready to see Singapore's first electric hyper car, which is making its debut at the Geneva International Motor Show 2017. This supercar called Dendrobium, which has been designed by Vanda Electrics, has the power to go from 0 kmh to 100kmh in 2.7 seconds and boasts of a top speed of 320 kmh. This electric two-seater car has been developed and built in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering, a company that is well known for its work with Formula 1 racing cars something which they claim they have been doing since the 1980s.

Vanda Electrics, a subsidiary of Wong Fong Engineering, dabbles in battery technology and electric mobility and has built this car to build public awareness of the brand and to spike interest among car enthusiasts. This electric car has a recurring honeycomb pattern design theme and its rear-hinged roofs and doors mimic the nature of orchids and open upwards and backward in unison. This also justifies the name Dendrobium, which is a variety of orchids that is native to Singapore.

The total weight of the car is around 1,750 kgs, the chassis is made of carbon fibre and the Formula E lithium batteries are placed to power the four motors of this car. While the concept car which is up for display is a rear wheeled drive, the company says, if they produce the vehicle they will introduce a four-wheeled drive.

The car is expected to cost a hefty seven-figure price tag if it makes it into production. Moreover, the car will be hand-built by Williams Advanced Engineering in UK and is expected to rival some of the best-known brands out there like Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini or McLaren.
