Singapore health ministry confirmed 27 new cases of locally transmitted Zika virus on Sunday which brings the total number of confirmed cases to 242.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) and National Environment Agency (NEA) said in a joint statement that 25 of those 27 cases are linked to the Aljunied Crescent/ Sims Drive/ Kallang Way/ Paya Lebar Way cluster. The remaining cases have no links to any existing cluster.
The authorities also said a new potential cluster was reported in the Joo Seng Road area.
NEA said the vector control operations play the key solution o reduce the spread of the Zika virus. The agency is still continuing with those operations in the Aljunied Crescent/ Sims Drive/ Kallang Way/ Paya Lebar Way cluster. 62 breeding habitats have been detected and destroyed in the area till September 3.
The vector control operations are also continuing in the Bedok North Avenue and almost 39 breeding grounds have been destroyed there.
NEA added that it will also start the vector control operations in the Joo Seng Road area which is the new potential cluster.
