Singapore said that a 34-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly selling fake luxury watches online. This latest arrest comes in a crack down on those who sell counterfeit products on the internet.
The police conducted a raid at Beach Road and arrested the suspect. They have also seized over 1,100 pieces of counterfeit watches and accessories including straps and buckles with an estimated street value of about $53,000.
The preliminary investigations revealed that before reselling the products locally via social media platforms, the man had used e-commerce IT goods from foreign sources.
The authorities said that the investigations are going on against the man. If convicted of selling or distributing goods with trademark infringements, the suspect may be fined up to $100,000, be imprisoned up to five years or both.
