Singapore's Smart Nation vision is being fulfilled at a faster pace in the recent years. The national government's efforts to leverage technology for the people's advantage is paying off as citizens continue to adapt living wired on a day to day basis with all its comforts.
However, some non-smartphone owners are groping in the dark to decipher this technology. Parking.sg, Singapore's mobile app for paying parking fees, has set the ball rolling since 1 October.

The majority of the citizens who have tried the new service have found the app a more efficient and convenient way to pay for coupon parking car parks. However, the grey population are having a difficult time to keep up.
On the launch day of the Parking.sg app, The Strait Times took the streets of Singapore to know the pulse of the citizens as to how they feel towards the mobile app. They found out that most elderly citizens have expressed reluctance to use it unless the government requires it or phases the coupons out.
According to some motorists, their elderly parents would still have to rely on coupons since they do not have smartphones. As of Saturday, Parking.sg app downloads on Google Play has already reached 100,000 times.
