In a video posted on ROADS.sg, a little girl is seen running unaccompanied across a very busy road. No guardian is spotted with or behind her.

The incident happened when the traffic light was not in her favour, leading to the possibility of a serious accident and injury. Thankfully, the child remains unharmed.

The spine-tingling video shows the girl dashing across a busy road which had cars aplenty and also a construction vehicle. She is seen dodging the traffic and going to the pavement on the other side. Cars slowed to avoid hitting her. She kept running on the pavement of the other side.

The caption on the video also warns the public about road safety rules and advises them never to let children cross a road or walk near heavy traffic without adult supervision.

The video also showed a traffic police riding across the road a few seconds after the girl had gone. However, it is unclear whether he was aware of the incident.

There is no knowing what could have happened if the child had encountered a speeding vehicle. This video comes as an eye-opener during a time when statistics show that most traffic accidents in Singapore involve a child or an infant.

Parents should take entire responsibility for their child's safety, the video's caption said. "When a child's life is in danger, nothing else matters except her safety."
