Sergio Aguero has become Manchester City's greatest ever goalscorer, and he is still the best striker in the Premier League too.
BBC pundit Alan Shearer believes that with Aguero smashing the Manchester City goalscoring record, he is also the best in the Premier League. He is a world-class finisher but part of what makes him so special is his consistency - he has been scoring at an incredible rate for City for more than six seasons now, not just two or three, and even Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku have not managed that yet.
Aguero's goal against Napoli on Wednesday saw him surpass Eric Brook's total of 177 goals in all competitions for City and become his club's top scorer with 178.
His most memorable goal is the injury-time winner against QPR that secured City the Premier League title on the final day of the 2011-12 season, which sums up how he produces when it matters in the really important games, according to Shearer.
Pep Guardiola hailed Sergio Aguero "a legend" after he became Manchester City's all-time leading scorer in their 4-2 victory at Napoli, according to Sky Sports.
"When one guy has achieved all he has achieved then its big congratulations go to him, his team-mates he has played with and managers," Guardiola told at the post-match press conference.
"It's a big record for him. He is a legend for the club and their history. He has to enjoy it and everybody has to be proud of that."
City did not have things their own way at the atmospheric Stadio San Paulo as Lorenzo Insigne fired Napoli ahead before Jorginho levelled the contest after Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones had given the visitors the lead, as per the Mirror.
City's fine performance came after a sluggish start. Napoli fans delivered the intimidating atmosphere, manager Maurizio Sarri had requested and City looked heavy-legged.
Napoli, by contrast, were sharp and produced a number of good attacks in the opening quarter. It came as no surprise when Insigne fired them in front.
Dries Mertens had already tested Ederson twice and Marek Hamsik had also tried his luck from long range. Hamsik was again involved before Insigne drove forward, played a one-two with Mertens and clipped a neat shot past Ederson.
City seemed unsure of themselves but a break in play for an injury to Faouzi Ghoulam allowed them to regroup.
With City through to the last 16 for a fifth successive year, Sterling added a fourth in injury time with a crisp low finish.
