Samsung has launched today the widest computer monitor in the market. The massive 49-inch CHG90 is now up for pre-order at Amazon for US$1,500.
CHG90 is the first super-ultrawide computer monitor available for sale in the market today. Samsung has manufactured the said monitor with an aspect ratio of 32:9. For the uninitiated, normal monitors have 16:9 while ultrawide monitors have 21:9. CHG90 is part of the South Korean firm's new line of gaming monitors that offer industry-leading advancements.
CHG90 has an incredibly enormous 49-inch QLED curved display with 3840 x 1080 resolution, a double full HD in simplest terms. The curve design primarily helps users to view the ends of the monitor with their peripheral vision, in a 178-degree viewing angle.
This ground-breaking computer monitor has a vertical alignment LCD display that delivers one millisecond only with the help of the ultrafast panel. This, unfortunately, makes PC monitors to lose saturation 20 degrees to the side and the picture quality in general.
With a refresh rate of 144 hertz, high-framerate games will have smoother motion, depending on the capability of the graphics card. Samsung is using the quantum-dot technology, which it uses for its HDTV lineup, and HDR10, making the video colour performance brighter, more vibrant, more saturated, and more precise.
CHG90 is also the pilot computer monitor to use AMD's FreeSync 2 technology, known to reduce video stuttering.
Windows does not provide support for multiple split windows. With the monitor's own software, users can have multiples tasks in one monitor since it can accommodate up to three windows.
Samsung Electronics America vice president for Product Marketing Andrew Sivori says, "Gamers want to feel completely immersed when they play, and our new monitors provide the most stunning visuals to deliver the ultimate gaming experience. These QLED gaming monitors represent the future of gaming for both casual and dedicated players alike, and we're confident that our innovative design and state-of-the-art features will enhance the entire gaming arena".
The CHG90 computer monitor costs U$1,500. Pre-order starts now via Amazon and local Micro Centre stores.
