Samsung and Xiaomi have recent releases that are way too impressive from afar. Both the Galaxy S8 and Mi 6 are critically lauded because of their groundbreaking design and features. Samsung's offering is a high-end device with a premium price, while Xiaomi's is built on high-end materials but does not come with a heart-wrenching price tag. Take a close at how these devices are different from each other

Specifications

The Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch Infinity Display made of Super AMOLED Corning Gorilla Glass 5 whose aspect ratio is 18.5.9 which is slimmer and taller than the usual Samsung smartphone. It has its fingerprint scanner the back panel of the device and the controversial iris scanner. Its main camera has a 12MP lens; while the 8MP front camera is capable of auto-HDR. Xiaomi Device

The Mi 6 sports a 5.5-inch 3D curved glass display on conventional 16:9 aspect ratio. It has a 12MP dual camera at the back and an 8MP front camera. It runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and 6GB of RAM. Mi 6 has 64GB and 128GB variants which are both non-expandable. It also has a fingerprint scanner.

Both devices have USB Type-C connectivity. In terms of design, the Galaxy S8 is undoubtedly more stunning than the Mi 6. Although, if the system performance is the primary concern, one cannot underestimate the Mi 6. Samsung and Xiaomi both used a similar processor, but the latter scores in terms RAM.

Price

The Mi 6 is almost 50 percent cheaper than the Galaxy S8. The former starts at US$470 while the latter starts at US$720. The Mi 6 does not go far from the Galaxy S8 in terms of specs; in fact, it has a bigger RAM. With US$250 extra, is the Galaxy S8 worth buying? Samsung devices have a league on its own, but with Xiaomi, consumers have options for those who are willing to pay extra.
