In the midst of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus releases this month, Samsung has reportedly been gearing up the refurbished Galaxy Note 7, called the Galaxy Note 7R, as it hitting the market again in May. South Korea is the ground zero for the new release of the device.

Galaxy Note 7R's Initial Release

Galaxy Note 7R will finally be released into the market next month starting off with South Korea, reports South Korea-based news website, Korea Herald. However, the exact date has not been revealed yet as it will be determined once Samsung gets the safety certification from the South Korean National Radio Research Agency. The certification process usually takes a month.

A Samsung official was quoted saying that the tech giant is firm that it has no schedule yet as to when exactly they would relaunch the phone but it should definitely before the Galaxy Note 8 gets introduced later in the year.

Just a couple of months after Galaxy Note 7 started to hit shelves globally in August 2015, Samsung had to recall around 4.3 million units of the model being released after the onslaught of complaints due to exploding batteries.

More markets soon

Apart from South Korea, the phone is slated to be released in more markets soon after being released in the country. Galaxy Note 7R will be available in Middle East, North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia afterwards.

Meanwhile, another report has surfaced detailing that the Galaxy Note 7R might be released in China even before its hometown can take a hold of it. This particular information came out after a Chinese e-commerce website put the device on sale. Nevertheless, Samsung has not confirmed this yet.

Galaxy Note 7R Specs, Price

The Galaxy Note 7R is expected to carry a 3,200mAh battery, lower than the Galaxy Note 7's 3,500mAh. The smartphone will run on Android 7.0 Nougat, an upgrade from the original version's Android 6.0.1 Lollipop.

As for the price range, Samsung might be going extra generous to offer the device for US$440, which is 50 percent less than the superseded Galaxy Note 7.
