Niantic Labs has recently been churning out a flurry of feature updates and limited-time events for Pokemon GO to keep its loyal fans engaged, amid the declining popularity of the ageing augmented-reality game. In its latest update celebrating the Water Festival event, the game developer will be spawning more water-type Pokemons in their common habitat.
Pokemon trainers will get the opportunity to capture more Water-type Pokemons including Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, Lapras and others, starting 22 March at 1:00 pm PDT. Additionally, the number of these water Pokemons will go up during the evolution of basic monsters.
As part of the Water event, Pokemon GO players can also access a Magikarp Hat, as their new avatar wardrobe item. All these goodies and event bonuses will be accessible until 29 March, 1:00 pm PDT.
Here's what Nintendo announced in its recent post on pokemongolive:
Starting today at 1 P.M. PDT, you'll be more likely to encounter Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and their evolutions all around the world. Additionally, when you're out exploring areas where Water-type Pokémon more commonly appear, you'll have a greater chance to encounter several of the Water-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region, and maybe... you might even encounter Lapras.
