Virtual reality or VR has achieved some impossible feats and now, one can not only shop sitting at home using VR headset but even take a tour. According to a report by Travel and Leisure, a travel technology company Navitaire is allowing potential customers to see and experience a place through VR before landing up there, which means you can now virtually take a tour before choosing where you want to go.

Navitaire is not the only one offering tours via VR. If The White House in Washington DC is on your "to-visit" list, you can take a tour of that place with the help of Facebook's Oculus VR headset. According to Mashable, Oculus has partnered with Felix & Paul Studios to capture a tour of The White House, hosted by former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama themselves.

This intimate tour—which was filmed in late 2016 and debuted at 2017's Tribeca Film Festival—feels as though you are getting a first-hand experience with the Obamas, writes Cisco Newsroom.

Google Earth is also there if you casually want to visit any place on the earth, with its incredible 360-degree views.

Now, the company has upped their game and recently released a version with 3D renderings for a more immersive experience, which according to Yahoo Tech is more exploration-focused.

It appears like virtual reality and tourism are two sectors which go hand-in-hand. This technology can actually bring about a whole new experience and open unexplored doors to adventure seeking people even without visiting the place physically.
