Motorola has officially confirmed the Android 8.0 Oreo update for Moto G5s and Moto G5S Plus devices. Its owner Lenovo has not mentioned yet when to release the update. Nevertheless, Android Oreo is expected to arrive before the final quarter of the year comes to an end.
Motorola India on Tuesday has announced via Twitter that Moto G5s and Moto G5s Plus are getting the Android 8.0 Oreo update very soon. Both devices were first launched earlier this month with Android 7.1.1 Nougat on board.

So far, only Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL have received the Android 8.0 Oreo. Samsung, LG, HTC and Sony have some devices confirmed for the upgrade but nothing has been released yet.
Unlike other brands, Motorola chose to exclude any custom interface to Android Oreo's source code for its devices. This means Motorola devices cannot expect as much as optimisations in the firmware in terms of visualisation enhancements.
Android 8.0 Oreo brings tonnes new features, tweaks and bug fixes. Some of them are faster booting time, battery life enhancements and more fluid interface, among many others.
