The Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in a travel advisory issued warnings regarding the possible eruption of Mount Agung, Bali in Indonesia on Saturday, September 23. The Singaporeans were notified to avoid traveling to the nearby zones of the volcanic mountain.

Singaporeans who are currently in the affected area have been advised to take all precautionary measures for their personal safety and closely follow the local news. They have been instructed to be observant of the instructions given by the local authorities such as those related to swift evacuation at a short notice. The advisory further stated that the people should procure comprehensive travel and medical insurance and be well acquainted with the terms and conditions of the same.

Indonesian authorities on Friday, September 22 raised the alert level for Mount Agung to level 4 "Awas" or "Warning" due to an elevated possibility of its eruption within 24 hours.

Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency apprised the tourists and locals to stay 9 km away from the crater and keep a distance of 12km away to the north, north-east, south-east and south-southwest.

The volcanic mountain, situated 75km from the tourist hub of Kuta, has been reverberating since August. Singaporeans have been advised to stay in constant contact with their family, friends, and relatives, so as to be informed of their whereabouts and safety conditions. Those traveling overseas have been asked to e-register with MFA so that the ministry can get in touch with them when required or in case of an emergency.
