Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed defender Phil Jones will be available for selection when Tottenham Hotspur visit Old Trafford for the Premier League tie on 28 October.
The England international was forced to be withdrawn in the Red Devils' 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town at the St John's Stadium last weekend. He was replaced by Victor Lindelof and the latter's error allowed the hosts to take a 2-0 lead.
Jones travelled with the squad to face Swansea City in the Carabao Cup. Mourinho saw his side register a comfortable 2-0 win as they progressed to the last eight of the competition. The centre-back was an unused substitute and the former Blackburn Rovers man will be ready to face the north London club on Saturday.
"It was quite comfortable and no injuries. So a good day for us. I think Jones will be [back] because, today, he was on the bench and he told me he will be ready in case I need him. So I believe he'll be even better for Saturday. Apart from that, I have no news and no hopes [for any other players]," Mourinho was quoted as saying by United's official website.
United are already without the likes of defender Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and midfielder trio of Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini. The Portuguese tactician's latest comments suggest that the Red Devils will be without any of these players when Tottenham make a visit this weekend.
