In an attempt to escape rape, a 16-year-old student jumped out of a car and broke her leg in Malaysia's Sarawak state, The incident happened on Monday in Miri, a coastal town situated on the northeastern side of Sarawak, Bernama reported.
The girl accepted a lift home in broad daylight from two men, who said they were heading towards Batu 1 Baram. One of the guys who chose to sit with the girl in the back seat started disturbing her on the way. Meanwhile, the other man, who was driving the vehicle, refused to take her home. "At this juncture, the victim opened the door of the car and jumped out of the vehicle, injuring herself. The two suspects sent her to Miri Hospital for treatment," Miri police chief ACP Khoo Leng Huat said, according to the state news agency.
The doctors reported that the victim's left leg was broken in the incident and she received bruises to her hands. The victim's mother was informed about the incident, following which she lodged a police complaint.
Though police have ordered an investigation into the matter, no one has been arrested as of yet. Bernama reported that officers are tracking the suspects who are believed to be former students of a secondary school in Miri.
