In a surprise move, microblogging and social media site Twitter has just doubled the character limit for the posts on its platform from 140 to 280. However, every user is not being able to use the extended word limit as of yet since Twitter has provided this feature to a handful of selected accounts on the platform as a part of the test.  Now, a Twitter user named Prof. 9 has devised a way for all the users to make use of the 280-word limit.

Here are the steps that you will need to follow in order to extend your Twitter post's word limit:

  • First, download Tampermonkey on your browser. Here is the link for Chrome web store
  • Visit this Github repository and then click on the raw button in order to install the script.
  • Lastly, make sure that the script is properly enabled in Tampermonkey.
  • Go to Twitter.com to post your tweet.

"It is a simple workaround, which will do the job automatically every time you open Twitter.com using this web client," reported The Verge. Tampermonkey is a quite popular userscript manager and as per the report, you can totally be sure that the javascript is a harmless workaround, which simply bypasses Twitter's tweet button limit.

If you don't want to use Tampermonkey, that will not be a hindrance. Twitter is gradually providing this facility to all the accounts to offer this feature. So, you might just get chosen by the platform randomly in the coming weeks or months.
