Google has officially finalised the list of end-of-life-support dates for Android updates for Nexus devices on its support site. The company had earlier declared that it will offer monthly security updates for three years from the device's release date or 18 months from the date of purchase (whichever is longer) while the platform updates will be available for "at least two years."
The full list of end-of-life-support dates for Nexus phones and tablets is given below as per Google's official post on its support site:
- Nexus 5X: September 2017
- Nexus 6P: September 2017
- Nexus 9: October 2016
- Nexus 5: October 2015
- Nexus 6: October 2016
- Nexus 7 (2013): July 2015
- Nexus 10: November 2014
The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P will continue receiving major updates until September 2017 while the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will receive software updates until October this year. The EOL support period for all other devices has already expired including the Nexus 4 which is missing in the list.
Android One fans are in for some good news as Google has officially confirmed at least one major software update for all Android One phones and a bunch of smaller security updates in the coming weeks and months.
