The Chinese smartphone maker, Gionee, unveils two smartphones A1 and A1 Plus of their new flagship A-Series line at the Mobile World Congress 2017. Both the phones are aimed to cater the mid-range consumer market. Although the prices have not been made available at the moment, it is believed to be affordable, as the company is expected to price them keeping the competition, from brands like Oppo and Huwaei, in mind.
Gionee president William Lu said that the firm has kept the millennial consumer base in mind while working on the A-series. "We have noticed that more and more people are regarding selfies as an expression of themselves and they tend to share their photos through various social channels whenever and wherever they are. As a consumer-oriented smartphone manufacturer, we hope to set up the evolution of the selfie experience and provide the best portfolio at the best price."
The first phone that was launched was the A1. The device has a 5.5-inch Full HD Amoled display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. It packs under his hood a MediaTek Helio P10 MT6755 processor along with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which can be extended up to 128GB with its expandable microSD slot. It also sports a Dual SIM slot, runs on Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box and has an impressive 4,010 mAh battery.
As the phones have their focus towards the millennial base, the company is making sure that its users can take the perfect selfie. The A1 has a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and fixed focus on the front along with a flash unit. In the back, there is a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture along with autofocus and LED flash unit. The A1 Plus ups the game even more with a 20MP selfie camera and the rear camera design of A1 Plus is drastically different from that of A1, as it sports a dual camera set up on the back - 13MP plus 5MP with f/2.0 autofocus.
Moreover, the Gionee A1 plus has a 6.0-inch Full HD display with an effective 1920 x 1080 resolution. This phone will run on a MediaTek Helio P25 processor and has a 64GB internal storage which can be further expanded through the MicroSD slot. It sports a 4,550 mAh battery and will have Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box. A notable feature of this phone along with others is that it will have something that the Gionee has called 'Ultra Charge' Technology, which apparently can fully recharge the battery in just 120 minutes.
