Samsung is allegedly working on a bigger and better Note device to make a grand comeback, following the untimely demise of Galaxy Note 7. According to SamMobile quoting some unidentified sources, the successor of Galaxy Note 7 aka Galaxy Note 8 carries the codename 'Great' and will use the model number 'SM-N950F'.
In other words, the Galaxy Note 8 will not be codenamed 'Baikal' as rumoured earlier and instead it will carry the codename 'Great' to signify Samsung's unflinching efforts to recover the lost market share with the release of Galaxy Note 8.
Not to mention, Samsung is decidedly dropping the number 4 from the Galaxy Note 8 model number as the Koreans deem it unlucky. Consequently, the international unlocked variant of Note 8 will carry the model number SM-N950F, wherein the last letter at the end will represent the region or market where the phone will be launched.
In addition, Samsung is expected to keep the Note 8's model numbers extremely simple and few, in order to enable faster rollout of software updates along the lines of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
In related news, the company is rumoured to be working on a refurbished Note 7 focused at South Korean market wherein the device could probably feature the model number 'SM-N935' aka Grace R. This rumour is further strengthened by the recent incident at the MWC, wherein a Greenpeace protestor reportedly interrupted the Galaxy Tab S3 event asking the company to recycle unused components, following the Galaxy Note 7 discontinuation.
Samsung is yet to official confirm the status of refurbished Note 7 smartphones and their availability in the global market. However, the South Korean market is likely to see the refurbished models of Galaxy Note 7 sometime later this year, if there is any truth to this rumour.
