Galaxy Note 7 users travelling on any flight in the US could find themselves in a legal mess as the country's Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration have issued a stringent ban against carrying Samsung's ill-fated device aboard the planes hovering over the country's airspace.
Carrying or using the Note 7 on any flight in the US is now deemed a criminal offense under the laws for illegal transport of hazardous materials.
Owners of the infamous flagship phone have been advised to return or exchange their smartphones with their cellular carriers and any attempts to transport the handset could land them in jail, besides extorting a hefty fine for the crime.
This is the second instance with the local authorities having stepped in to ensure safe air travel as the FAA had issued a similar warning in September against using or shipping the phone on flights. Meanwhile, Samsung has kicked off its second and final recall of the Note 7 handset in full swing.
The company had recently confirmed its intent with killing the Note 7 brand name and focusing its total attention to the development of the upcoming flagship phone, the Galaxy S8.
Any Galaxy Note 7 owner should visit their carrier and retail store to participate in the U.S. Note 7 refund and exchange program now. We realize this is an inconvenience but your safety has to remain our top priority.
Samsung has urged both the new and second-hand owners of the Note 7 handset to hand over the device to their respective carriers or retail store from where they bought the device and avail the benefits of the refund and exchange program.
