The smart watch market has seen quite a few new products from the big brands in the Baseworld 2017. One of the most notable announcements, however, came from the Fossil group in this regard at the event. The watchmakers have announced that they will release at least 300 new smart wearables under its 14 popular brands in this year alone.
As per GSm Arena, the brands under which the new wearables will be launched include Adidas, Burberry, Diesel, DKNY, Emporio Armani and Marc Jacobs among many others. Of course, it is only reasonable to expect that brand will also launch new smart products under the Fossil brand name as well.
However, the point should be noted that all these 300 new products won't all be smartwatches. Some of them can be general smart wearables or hybrid watches that are simply a combination of normal mechanical watches and fitness trackers. Nevertheless, Fossil is an established and well-known smartwatch maker in the fashion industry and this overwhelming goal of intruding 300 plus new units in one year shouldn't be all that surprising given its reputation.
Two new smartwatches powered by Android have already been announced at the event by the watch giant. These watches are to enter the market by the next fall. These two smartwatches will have their own micro-app that is specifically tailored for the company's identity. Both watches will retail between $255 and $275, which makes them slightly less expensive, compared to other top-of-the-line Android Wear devices currently available in the market.
Steve Evans, the Executive Vice President of the company said that as an innovator in the industry, Fossil knows that they are able to develop a new watch category that can be relevant to the new generation.
Since its first smartwatch launch in 2015, Fossil has already brought 150 smartwatches throughout 40 countries, according to PRNewswire.
