The first photos of Apple's self-driving test vehicle 'Lexus RX450h' have been recently captured on the roads of California and shared with Bloomberg. The Lexus-branded SUV was earlier touted to run the training programme for the vehicle's test drivers to make them accustomed to 'drive by wire' mode for emergency situations.

Freshly captured images clearly depict the vehicle is equipped with camera and sensors and Apple seems to be determined in its efforts towards nurturing self-driving technology, especially after Bob Mansfield rejoined Apple last July to henceforth head the team for the electric car project.

"The sensors included Velodyne Lidar Inc.'s top-of-the-range 64-channel lidar, at least two radar and a series of cameras. The sensors appear to be products bought off the shelf from suppliers, rather than custom-made, according to an industry expert who saw the photos."

In related news, the company has also hired dozens of engineers for its car OS project in Canada and will reportedly take the final call for its forthcoming car projects by fall of this year.
