Even after two decades of popularity, it seems that Pokémon has no plans to slow it down and the company is finally coming up with its first permanent restaurant in Tokyo, Japan. The upcoming Pokemon Café will be opening in March 2018 at the Takashimaya store in Nihonbashi.
The new café, officially called Pokémon Center Tokyo DX, will be a follow up from all the temporary pop-ups that were organised by The Pokemon Company. The café will feature themed food and drink, along with a gift shop stocked with items only available at that location.
In 2015, the company organised the last pop-up inside a Shibuya Parco department store. Later in 2016, Singapore also had a temporary Pokemon café at Everything With Fries (Ewf), a restaurant on the fourth floor in Bugis Junction. The first edition of the 60-seater pop-up cafe was held from May 27 to July 31, 2016 at the same venue.
However, this is not the first time when Japan will have a store dedicated only to Pokemon. The country already has a handful of Pokémon Center Mega stores showcasing all the Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Slowpoke, and other merchandise that has endured all our childhood.
