The founder and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk has launched yet another company called Neuralink Corp, which aims to connect computers to human brains, reported the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter.

Building a mass-market electric vehicle and colonising Mars was not ambitious enough for the billionaire visionary that now he wants to merge human brains with computers so that humans can keep up with the abilities of machine, reported MarketWatch.

Neuralink is pursuing, what Musk calls the "neural lace" technology, implanting tiny brain electrodes that may one day upload and download thoughts, the Journal reported.

Elon Musk has not made any official announcements yet but Neuralink was registered in California as a "medical research" company last July. As per the source of the Journal, the billionaire entrepreneur is mulling over the idea of funding the company mostly by himself.

Reportedly the company has also hired leading academics in the concerned field during the last few weeks.

Musk didn't respond to a request for comment. Max Hodak, who said he is a Neuralink co-founder, confirmed the company's existence and Musk's involvement, according to MarketWatch.
