The Dendrobium, an orchid-inspired electric hypercar produced by the Singapore company Vanda Electrics, is all set to make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 7. According to the company, the car's exterior design consists of a roof and doors which will open up in a "synchronised theatrical manner, resembling a fully-opened dendrobium flower, a genus of orchids native to Singapore".
Dendrobium is the first ever home-grown supercar of Singapore and it will be entirely electric, said the company in a press release. The car was developed by Vanda Electrics and Williams Advanced Engineering — famed for its work in Formula One racing.
Technical details about this hypercar have been kept secret so far. However, it was reported last year that the car could be propelled by four Yasa electric motors — with a total output of 1,500 horsepower and 4,000 newton-meters of torque. It was also previously reported that the car could hit a sweet 100kmh from a standstill in under 2.6 seconds, and hit a top speed of 400 kmh.
As per todayonline.com Vanda Electrics Chief Executive Officer Larissa Tan has said that "Dendrobium is the first Singaporean hypercar and the culmination of Vanda Electrics' expertise in design and technology. We are delighted to be working with Williams Advanced Engineering, world-leaders in aerodynamics, composites and electric powertrains and Bridge of Weir Leather Company, makers of the finest, lowest-carbon leather in the world."
The car is the output of a "marriage of design and engineering" and is inspired by nature and rooted in technology, added Ms Tan. Further details about this beast will be revealed with time, said the company.
