Apple has just released new security updates for OS X El Capitan, OS X Yosemite and Safari to fix a known exploit used to steal personal details. It is ascertained that the same exploit was earlier transmitted through jailbreak tools and malware attack on an iPhone to steal information including text messages, contacts, emails and call details.
Various reports have now confirmed that the exploit was used to track individuals including journalists while the vulnerability seems widespread across both iOS and Mac OS X platforms. Apple's new security updates 2006-001 and 2006-005 are aimed at addressing this vulnerability on Macs running OS X El Capitan or OS X Yosemite.
The update can now be downloaded by OS X users via Mac App Store while Safari users can grab the v1.9.3 update for the browser to get rid of this security issue. iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users are advised to install the iOS 9.3.5 update on their device as soon as possible to avert the security risk.
